Ever Hear of The Massage “Half and Half” Technique?
Have you ever heard of the Massage “Half and Half” Technique?
Me neither… up until this afternoon.
While I was interviewing author and speaker, Sam Horn, for this month’s Audio Learning Library addition for MassageBusinessUniversity.com, she blurted out with something that was worth it’s weight in gold.
Before I tell you what she said, let me first share with you the premise behind her book and why I so desperately wanted to interview her for our Massage Business University members.
The name of her book isÂ
“POP! Stand Out In Any Crowd”.
And, the entire book is dedicated to these very cool and very memorable ways of making your marketing message stand out to differentiate what you do from every other therapist out there.
In essence, she shows small business owners (massage therapists) how to put these really memorable and catchy twists on their marketing, so it POPS out of the crowd of mundane marketing.
And, she’s paid very well for it.
The thing is, even though I read about a book every 10 days or so, I had never seen anybody else, in any book, talk about the things Sam talks about in her book.
I mean, personally, I have about 1/5th of the entire book highlighted, literally, because it’s got so many neat ideas in there.
Anyway, I really wanted to interview Sam for MBU this month, because I knew she could teach you just a few of her differentiating techniques in an hour, and it would be incredibly valuable for you.
  So, that’s what I did.
But, the interview turned out even better than I expected.
Because Sam talked about waaaay more than I anticipated, including the Massage “Half and Half” Technique which I’m about to share with you.
She actually laid out a very, very valuable way to captialize and make a lot of money from this Mother’s Day.
In her words, during this afternoon’s interview, “…some massage therapist can go and make $100,000 from that idea.”
And, I believe she was dead serious.
Anyway, enough with that… let me tell you about the “Half and Half” technique.
What The Heck Is The Massage
    “Half and Half” Technique?
If you’ve been a student of mine for any significant length of time, you’ve heard me talk about the value of offering proprietary massage packages, programs, and services.
In other words, NOT offering just massage, like every other therapist out there.
But, instead, naming your massage programs and packages something unique and proprietary to your practice, so consumers can NOT compare you to what other therapists are offering.
You see, if you simply promote “massage” in your practice, then people are going to compare your prices and your location and your credentials and your experience to every other therapist out there offering “massage”.
BUT, if you offer something that is perceived as “different”, with a different and memorable name, people will no longer compare you to other therapists, because it would be like comparing apples to oranges.
And, when you’re positioned uniquely like that in your geographic area, the price you are charging for your services no longer becomes capped by what every other therapist is charging.
Why?
Becuse you’re not offering what they are.
You’re offering something “different”.
And, as Sam explained during her interview – which you can get at http://www.MassageBusinessUniversity.com – you can use the Massage “Half and Half” Technique to come up with a name for your massage services that makes your practice seem “different” and makes it POP out from the crowd.
    Here’s how this Technique works:
Step 1: Take out a piece of paper and write down all of the “core words” that you could or would use as part of your massage marketing message.
Step 2: Take out a new sheet of paper, draw a vertical line down the center, and put half of your core words on the left side and half on the right side.
Step 3: Now, take the first half of each word in the left column and blend it with the last half of the words in the right column. Write down any possibilities that POP!.
Step 4: Then, take the first half of the words in the right column and blend them with the last half of the words in the left column. Continue until you’ve gone through your list and tried all the different variations. Keep your eyes and “ears” open for a blended word that captures the nature of what you do in a never-before-seen term.
This is one way of getting your massage marketing and services noticed and remembered.
And, that’s so critical today, with so much competition and options for people.
Give it a shot.
Enjoy,
Todd Brown
P.S. Sam shared soooo much more during the interview this afternoon.
She talked about:
- The 9 Questions You Must Ask Yourself Before You Attempt To Put Together Your Massage Marketing Message.
- How To Create A Memorable Massage ‘Money Phrase’.
- Why (And How) You Need To “AFLAC” Your Massage Marketing.
- How To Name Your Massage Services In A Way That Sounds Like What You Do. (It’s really neat stuff…)
- How To Put Your Massage Slogan Or Tagline Or USP To A Beat… So People Love Saying It And Spread The Word About You!
- A Quick And Simple Mother’s Day Massage Promotion That Could Be Worth BIG MONEY! (This is a surefire way to get tons of valuable free-bie publicity for your practice around Mother’s Day.)
- How To Use The “Dunkin Donuts” Method Of Naming Your Massage Packages And Programs So They’re Simple And Easy To Remember!
