    Get Massage Clients The Hummer H3 Way

    I’ve got an odd question for you…

    You’ve seen the Hummer H3 truck, right?

    The smaller version of that humongous Hummer H2 truck?

    Well, about a month ago I decided to buy one for myself.

    Funny thing is, my experience at the dealership was so insane, it immediately reminded me of a critical massage practice-building
    lesson.

    Let me give you the 60-second version…

    I was in the back lot with the salesman, Nick, my wife Kellie, and my two little girls.

    Once I picked out the model and color I liked (slate blue metallic), Nick turns to me and says, “Hop in. Let’s take it on the Hummer
    track.”

    “The Hummer track?”, I thought to myself.  “What the heck is that?”

    Thinking we were just going to be driving around some circular high-school running-track-style thing, I followed Nick’s lead and hopped
    in the passenger seat.

    Well, once we got to the “Hummer Track”, let me just say… it was no little circular anything.

    He looks at me and says, “Ready?”, and off we went.

    Over a 16 inch vertical step (as Nick explained)…

    Through a rock bed…

    Up an insanely steep 60 degree hill…

    Down an insanely steep 60 degree hill…

    The truck on a 45 degree angle (so I could see it wouldn’t tip over, as if I needed to see that)…

    And, even at one point, on two wheels! Seriously!

    Anyway, it was an insane, fun, and exhilarating experience, to say the least.

    Just awesome!

    I think I’ve already told at least a half a dozen people that story since. (Certainly more now.)

    Meanwhile, about 2 weeks prior to my Hummer adventure, I was at a local Honda dealership picking up a new Honda Odyssey Mini-van for
    Kel and the girls.

    But, at that dealership, there was no off-road adventure.

    No fun or memorable experience.

    And, no unique story about the dealership to share with my family and friends.

    It was ordinary and forgetful…

    Just like so many massage practices.

    You see, today, it’s not enough to just provide great care.

    It’s not enough to just be knowledgeable and caring.

    Those are all critical elements of a great practice, but they are also the MINIMUM clients expect from you.

    And, simply providing the minimum isn’t going to cut it today.

    Not in an overly-competitive marketplace, it’s not.

    Today, in order to stand out amongst all of the other massage therapists in your area (all trying to get the same new clients you are),
    you can’t be ordinary, you can’t be forgettable, and you can’t be boring.

    You’ve got to provide your clients and prospective clients with a memorable experience.

    You’ve got to give your clients something to talk about.

    You’ve got give them the “Hummer Track”, not the “Honda Parking Lot”.

    P.S. It’s funny when you think about it…

    Up until now, I haven’t spoken about the Honda dealership we bought Kellie’s van from, with anybody else.

    Honestly, I can’t even remember the salesman’s name.

    But, I’ve already taken my father back to the Hummer dealership so Nick could take him on the track as well, and will probably do the
    same with my brother-in-law.

    It wouldn’t shock me if my dad pulled up in a Hummer H3 soon.

    The point is… they both sold great vehicles… both delivered caring service… and both met our expectations.

    But, one of them exceeded our expectations.  And, that’s the one I’ve talked about, visited again, and will most likely spend a lot
    more money with.
